Keeping in tune with the Republic Day, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has once again turned singer for R Balki’s Shamitabh that also stars Dhanush, to croon the National Anthem of India sans music or instruments.

The video which was released today has been shot by his Piku director Shoojit Sircar and sees Amitabh at the Jorasanko Thakurbari- the ancestral residence of Rabindranath Tagore- as an ode to the writer-composer. Talking about the location, Shoojit said, “It’s a voluntry project. Mr Bachchan and I had plans to do a music video on the National Anthem for a long time. Though I knew we would be shooting it in Kolkata, I din’t go location hunting. I had a chat with him on the phone and we decided to shoot it at the Jorasanko Thakurbari, where not much shooting has happened before.”

Reportedly, Mr Bachchan shot for the video bare feet out of respect for the anthem.
