US teacher killed in Libya

Unidentified men killed a US citizen who was working as a teacher at an international school in Libya's Benghazi city Thursday, security officials said.

The US expatriate was killed in the morning, as he was jogging on Venice Street near the headquarters of the US consulate, which had been attacked last year, Xinhua reported citing a security official Ibrahim Sharaa .

The victim was identified as Ronnie Smith, a Texan, born in 1980. He taught chemistry at the city's international school, a Libyan-owned institute that follows an American curriculum.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the killing.
