Ottawa, ON - March 4, 2014

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), General Tom Lawson, met with members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) during a visit to Edmonton today.

During his visit, the CDS conducted a Town Hall at the Edmonton Garrison, home of 3rd Canadian Division Support Base.

The CDS also had the pleasure of attending and dropping the opening puck at the Oilers Canadian Armed Forces’ Appreciation Night, together with 300 CAF members. The Edmonton Oilers have a rich tradition of paying tribute to the CAF in recognition of the key role they play in the community.

Having the Canadian Armed Forces' Chief of Defence Staff here in Edmonton talking with 3rd Canadian Division troops was a great opportunity. The Town Hall afforded soldiers a chance to bring forward questions and comments on matters most important to themselves and their families. We thank the CDS for taking time out of his busy schedule to come out west, and we look forward to the next opportunity.
