Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar featuring Paridhi Sharma and Rajat Tokas is leading on the TRP chart and ruling millions of hearts.

However, this loved historical show has always been in the news, thanks to many controversies. And it is because of all these troubles that Ekta Kapoor, who was initially producing the show decided to call it quits. Here’s taking a look at five reasons why Jodha Akbar has remained in spotlight…

Ekta trouble: As soon as the show went on air in 2013, a Jaipur-based outfit called the Shri Rajput Karni Sena claimed the show was distorting historical facts. They demanded that the show be taken off air. If that wasn’t enough, later, an organisation called the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha too protested outsideEkta‘s office as they felt Akbar was shown belittling Rajputs on the show. In fact, It was so bad that the protestors even burnt the Balaji head honcho’s effigy. After all this, the TV czarina decided to back out as the producer. Quite a scandal, we must say.

Rajat – Paridhi rivalry: Indeed they share a sizzling chemistry on-screen, but when the cameras turn off this lead pair is at loggerheads with each other and don’t even exchange pleasantries. The duo don’t see eye-to-eye off screen and prefer not to even talk to each other. However they still manage to shoot their scenes without any hassles. The reason behind this is that apparently Mr Tokas feels that he is senior to Paridhi and thus likes to maintain a distance. Well, as they say, there is always more than what meets the eye.

Santaram Verma sexual abuse allegations: Paridhi alleged that she was physically, mentally and economically abused by her show’s director. Verma however before being ousted from the show had said, All these are just rumors and there’s is no truth to it. I’ve not physically abused Paridhi or anybody in my entire career. Paridhi and I are just professionals and we are here to just do our jobs. We don’t even talk to each other, nor I’ve ever spoken to her on the phone so how can I molest? We have a team who co-ordinates with her for the shoots and all. In fact I don’t even shoot her (Paridhi) scenes as Paridhi was close to the group who walked out of the show. They used to brain wash her as their only aim was to stop the shoot. So I always avoid shooting with her and have always maintained distance from Paridhi as I don’t want any clash.” Paridhi had even threatened to walk out of the show following differences with Santram and Rajat, finally Ekta Kapoor intervened and the heroine stayed back, while the director was shown the door.

Paridhi Sharma effect: Despite all the controversies, Paridhi won a lot of fans for her portrayal of Maharani Jodha Bai. The beautiful lady has triggered a craze of sorts on the social media. There were also times when she was compared to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who enacted the same character on 70mm in an Ashutosh Gowariker film that saw B-town’s Greek God Hrithik Roshan as emperor Akbar. While Rajat has never been compared to Hrithik, Paridhi seems to find herself pitted against one of World’s most beautiful women, the Bachchan Bahu herself. However the viewers seem to be mesmerised by Ms Sharma, which was proved from the poll we did on BollywoodLife. Now that is saying something, isn’t it?

The Jodha-Akbar chemistryJodha Akbar was launched with a lot of expectation and was touted as the next big thing on the small screen, but the historical saga never picked up initially. After all the initial hiccups, the show is now ruling the roost. While off screen the duo couldn’t stand each other, the viewers simply loved the actors nok-jhok on screen. A little peck by Rajat to Paridhi on the show sent fans in a tizzy and the consummation scene on the show apparently created a lot of buzz
