‘Entertainment’ is the story of Akhil (Akshay Kumar), who is living a hand to mouth life. When Akhil reaches Bangkok to claim the 3000 crore will left by his father, he comes to know that his father has signed the will in the favour of his pet (A Dog named Entertainment). To get his property back Akhil has to fight with the Dog and his cousins Karan (Prakash raj) and Arjun (Sonu Sood), who are also behind the property. Will Akhil get his property? Will he be able to win? This is the rest of the story.

STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES:

Writers Sajid–Farhad have given good films previously like Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, Housefull 2, Bol Bachchan etc, but this time around they fail to create that magic onscreen, with too many repetitive humour, gags and punches seen umpteen numbers of times, they just bore the audience and try forcefully to tickle their funny bone but it doesn’t happens. Story was good with a scope, but they fail to reach the expectations. In 1st half where Akshay is shown trying to get rid of the dog, all the sequences fail to impress the audience as it is seen many a times before. In the 2nd half writers get two more strong personalities, but with lame characters, Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood doesn’t fit the bill in their roles. It is a half baked film with half masala and entertainment that audience gets. Dialogues are made in a filmy way to make it humorous, but rather it sounds loud, with Krishna taking film names in each dialogue and Tamannaah picking up daily soap kinda lines. Dialogues given to Akshay where he rhymes with the lines and Johnny Lever’s dialogues are good and provides some entertainment and humour to the film.

PERFORMANCES:

Akshay Kumar does a fair job and has proved himself before many times in handling such comedy and humorous subjects, but this time he couldn’t excel due to poor script. His chemistry with the dog is good and creates emotions and sympathy as well. Akshay is looking fit and well in shape in the film. Tamannaah has tried to prove herself in her previous flops and fails around this time as well. She is not impressive and not that glamorous too for what the heroines are best at. Mithun Chakraborty is good in his cameo role and excels as a miser father. Krishna Abhishek is good and does his part well, Johnny lever is excellent and the saving part of the film, his comic timings, facial expressions and dialogues do tickle your funny bone. Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood are good as villains, but not as dumb and lame villains, which they portray in this film. Both of them are wasted and not impressive. Other supporting cast is just fine.

DIRECTION, CINEMATOGRAPHY AND EDITING:

Debutante directors Sajid-Farhad have been associated with writing hit films like Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, Housefull 2 and Bol Bachchan. The duo had been lucky in writing scripts, but fail to impress as directors, and even the script compared to their previous films as writers were much better than the one they chose for their directorial debut. It’s not a complete entertainer, it has repeated gags and punches which doesn’t excite any more to the audience. Lots of liberties have been taken in the film and good actors like Prakash Raj and Sonu Sood are wasted in the film. The duo should refrain from making more movies and stick to what they are best at.

ACTION, BACKGROUND SCORE AND MUSIC:

Action by Sham Kaushal is fine but nothing new, Background score is okay. Music by Sachin – Jigar is average.

CHOREOGRAPHY, LOCATIONS AND PRODUCTION VALUE:

Choreography by Remo is okay. Locations are good and Production values are of high standard.

OUR VERDICT:

Overall, the film fails to create impact or the entertainment elements as shown in the promos and doesn’t offer much. If you are Akshay's fan or a animal movie lover then go for it or could easily escape this one.
