Priyanka Chopra’s much-awaited film Mary Kom hit the theatres on Friday (August 5) and going by the box office figures wethinks the biopic has managed to impress not only the critics but audience as well.

On day 1, the film collected approximately Rs 8.5 crore nett at the ticket windows and the scenario was pretty much the same on day 2. By the end of two days, the Priyanka starrer had minted Rs 17.50 crorenett which is indeed great, hai na? Well, the bio-drama fared well on Sunday too and now the film’s three day total stands at around Rs 28 crore nett. Not surprising, considering Ms Chopra’s acting prowess, right peeps?

According to Boxofficeindia, “The best business came in Mumbai, Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Mysore and West Bengal. The business is very good for a female centric film with just Priyanka Chopra as the only recognisable face in the film. It is the highest weekend of all time for such a film. Even no sex/horror genre film has got such figures where the only face value is female lead.”

Even Priyanka is overwhelmed by the response her film has garnered. The singer-actor tweeted, “What a weekend for #MaryKom . Thank you all.. I truly home that the story of our true champ @MangteC has a wonderful run at the box office.”
