A review meeting of banks on implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was held on 08.09.2014 under the Chairmanship of Sh. Rajan Kumar, IES, Economic Advisor, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Govt. Of India in the State of Haryana & UT Chandigarh.  Besides, Dr. B.M. Padha, Convener SLBC, Haryana & UTLBC, the Controlling Heads of Banks and officials from UIDAI also participated.  In the meeting he was apprised that 11288 & 876 Camps have been organised by banks in the State of Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh respectively wherein 946167 and 57650 accounts have been opened in the State of Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh respectively.
 
 
 The banks informed the steps being taken for the publicity of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana in the command area of the branches through banners, local TV, FM Radio, Panchayats & Religious places like Gurudawars & Mandirs.  The Convener SLBC also informed that banks are putting their all out efforts to make Chandigarh a fully saturated city at the earliest.  Sh. Rajan Kumar said that accounts being opened under PMD scheme should not be treated as a burden but as a business proposition.
 
 
 He also asked the banks to ensure sufficient number of account opening forms, Rupay Cards & Pass Books in the branches or at BC location.  All banks must appoint BCAs immediately and provide training equipments for their successful functioning.  Financial Literacy drive should be stepped up to educate the people about the benefits under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana and there is not need to open fresh accounts as Rupay Card can be issued in the existing accounts also.  He desired that banks should hold camps on every Saturday from 8.00 AM to 8.00 PM to the cover the remaining House Holds.  Banks were also advised to follow relax KYC norms and re-schedule the strategies for coverage of the allotted area well before the target date i.e.26.01.2015.  In the meeting toll free numbers for Adhaar were also informed to the banks.
