Farhan Akhtar’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag seems to have started a wave of biopics in B-town which is unlikely to settle down any time soon. After Farhan’s critically acclaimed performance in the same, Priyanka Chopra’s Mary Kom followed suit which created a stir across the nation. Where some celebs couldn’t stop singing praises for the films, there are others who aren’t too happy with the concept. Here are some actors who have made bold statements regarding biopics in the recent past:“Filmmaking is not about spreading awareness” – Saif Ali Khan

The Happy Ending actor when asked about whether the trend of biopics was apt enough to spread awareness of sports said that he believed films should be made to entertain people. “Film-making, to me, is not about spreading awareness; it’s about making entertaining films. You’re asking people for their money, not to give them a lecture. If it happens to be a fun film that is about sports, then great,” he had said. It seems like the Nawab wasn’t too happy with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom, which have been biopics based on popular sports persons.

“People are making biopics for the heck of it” – Emraan Hashmi

The Raja Natwarlal actor will be seen essaying the role of Mohammad Azharuddin in a biopic himself. However when asked about the overdose of the same in B-town, the actor said. “People are making biopics for the heck of it. Biopics should be made on people who have faced conflicts in life, people who have gone through ups and downs and have a complete life. In that sense, there is no more interesting than Azhar to make a film on.” Another dig at Bhaag Milkha Bhaagand Mary Kom, don’t you think?

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is too fake a film”- Naseeruddin Shah

The Finding Fanny actor was the most upfront on his take against the biopic. Calling Bhaag Milkha Bhaag a fake film, the actor had said, “Farhan (Akhtar) was made to look like Rocky and not Milkha”. All the girls screamed for him when he appeared and so on which is lovely. He looked terrific but he did not look like Milkha. It’s was just too fake a film. Yes it was very beautifully shot which makes it technically an excellent film.”
