Karan Johar is not stopping at anything these days. He announced his upcoming directorial venture Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and on the very same day he announced another production venture of his titled Kalank, which will be helmed by Abhishek Varman. Abhishek is the director of Karan Johar’s 2 States. This will be his second directorial venture and to do so under Dharma Productions must be a dream come true for him.

Our khabroos inform us that Kalank is very close to KJo. The reason being its associated with his dad Yash Johar. Now you may ask how that happened. Actually it was Yash Johar who had done the initial research for the film and discussed the story idea with his son. However, after he passed away the story went on the back burner, until Abhishek came up with a similar idea. KJo related the ideas and decided to give Abhishek the directorial reigns for Kalank. The film is said to be dealing with a variety of human emotions and will be a period drama set in pre-independence India. Our little birdies also inform us that Yash Johar had visited Lahore and finalised the shooting locations for the film, however, before he could start shooting he passed away.
