Jammu:

India's claim over Pakistan based terrorist Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks has been jeopardised with the release of separatist leader Masarat Alam, a Muslim cleric said today.

"Release of Masarat Alam, an anti-national would jeopardize India's claim over Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks," Molana Sayeed Athar Hussain Delhvi, chairman of the Anjuman Minhaz e Rasool told reporters here.

He said that more than 120 people lost their lives in the incidents of stone pelting that were masterminded by Alam.

"More than 120 people lost their lives, many lost their eyesight and the Maulvi who issue fatwas against stone pelting were killed on the behest of Pakistan," he said.

The cleric noted that the decisions taken by the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir including the release of separatist leaders like Masarat Alam was a cause of concern for the people of the country.

"Their decisions are not a precursor of the good days," he said.

Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the issue, he said, "The BJP had made this an issue during the elections, now I wonder why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is silent over the issue of the release of Masarat Alam."
