Why did Kareena Kapoor Khan reject six films in last five months?

People have criticised Bebo for not taking up new projects. Saifu’s wifey opens up regarding the real reason for backing out of such projects…

Kareena Kapoor Khan has been time and again blamed for rejecting films. But never has she opened up as to why she actually did so. If we recall in the past she has rejected films like Queen, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, Dil Dhadakne Do, Shhuddhi, Bejoy Nambiar’s next, Sujoy Ghosh’s film and many others as well. So what is the real reason behind this? We wonder…

Talking to leading daily Bebo reverts, “In the last five months, I think I have said no to six movies because I don’t want to do anything that’s not great. If I don’t want to [be a part of a film], I am happy not to do it… [I’d rather] chill at home and read a book, or do something else. And that’s a policy that I will stick to. Let people say, do or write what they want to. Like Saif (Ali Khan; husband) says, ‘Put your head down and don’t do what you don’t like.’ And after 15 years [in the industry], I am sure I have the right to do that.”

Talking about why she didn’t star in Zoya Akhtar’s film, the Begum of Pataudi said, “It’s my loss because I love Zoya, but couldn’t be part of her film. I am dying to work with her. Inshallah, this isn’t the last film she is going to make, and it’s not the last film that I’m not able to do. Aage bhi bahut padi hai zindagi (there’s life ahead). Whenever she has a role for me, I’ll definitely do it.”

So has marriage affected the choice of films? Kareena says, “My priorities are different because I am married now. I would like to work in a way that I can give certain time to a film. But then, I have to keep some time for my personal life as well. And I always wanted things to be like this.”

She is all set to come back into films with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Returns starring Ajay Devgn. We hope the film opens up more doors for her and she gets to do a lot of new interesting projects.
