Nimrat Kaur may not fit the bill as a conventional heroine who’d break into song and dance in a typical Bollywood masala movie. But she is definitely turning heads with her talent and she isn’t an actor you can afford to ignore! She is making all the right moves in her career and she will soon be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Airlift. On her birthday we tell you 5 reasons why we think Nimrat is no less than all the other mainstream commercial divas…

She is doing unconventional roles

While Alia Bhatt started picking off beat roles after making a rather glamorous debut in Student of the Year, Nimrat started her career with unconventional roles. From The Lunchbox to her role in Anurag Kashyap’s Peddlers, Nimrat is already developing a penchant for picking different roles. Probably, her theatre background helps her with trying out new roles!

She has been to Cannes

Even though she doesn’t have many films on her resume, she is one of the few Bollywood actresses who has been to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival so early on in her career. Apart from that she has attended the BAFTAs too! Talk about international recognition!

She wore the same designer as Michelle Obama

Yep, that’s right. Ms Kaur has worn the same designer, Bihu Mohapatra as the First Lady of The United States! How cool is that! She is clearly a fashion competitor of Deepika Padukone’s whose style statements fetch her global recognition.

She has already done an international show

Before Priyanka Chopra was offered the ABC deal, Nimrat had already begun working on the super popular show Homeland. She played the recurring role of Tasneem Qureshi, the ISI agent in the fourth season of the show!

She has already won an award for her contribution to cinema!

Yes, she may just be two films old but Nimrat has already bagged an accolade for her contribution to the world of cinema. One can only imagine how valuable her career will be to the Indian film industry in the years to come!
